Fabulous historic hotel, but a little on the noisy side at night...
Really lovely and helpful reception staff, amazing location (seriously, would be hard to beat for access to the duomo and markets) and a very cool hotel (Leonardo da Vinci lived there for a year of his life). We took four rooms as were a big group - I had the 'family' room for myself and our two smaller children - it was spacious and comfortable and my husband could easily have stayed in there also (he had a separate room with our eldest child).
The noise from people coming back into their rooms at night is not good!! It really let the experience down; poor sleep is not fun. There are large common areas outside the rooms which are great in the day, but not so good if people are using them late at night (a child was running around yelling and screaming at 11pm). The doors slamming closed from people coming home late at night, for what seemed like hours on end, drove all of us crazy. Perhaps the hotel could consider a polite reminder at check-in that being quiet in common areas, and closing the room doors quietly would be much appreciated by other guests?! Or a sign on the front door for when people are letting themselves in late at night?!

Amazing historical accommodation in Florence
I loved the location firstly, which is why I booked it. Only a 15 min walk from the station. Arrived to welcoming staff. Family room was huge, clean and very modern whilst keeping with the age of the property. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve slept in (ever) and the pillows like clouds. I would not hesitate to stay here again should I find myself back in Florence. Leonardo da Vinci once lived here, another plus point to staying here.
Writing this more as an FYI than a dislike - the lift wasn’t working on the day we left. The stairs aren’t steep but there are a few flights from the 3rd floor. So don’t pack a heavy suitcase!
